Bangkok: where the game starts

The game starts here, over Bangkok, at the Top height band, 25 km up. The area is a circle of play 200 km across on the flat plain of the Chao Phraya, linked up to low orbit over Sumatra.
- The ground comes from satellite maps: farmland across the plain, forest only where the map shows forest. Forest fills the whole area, 100 km round its centre. More: forests at Low.
- Rivers are drawn from river data, each as wide as its flow: the Chao Phraya runs about 400 m wide through the city and on to the Gulf of Thailand. More: rivers.
- The city is generated: blocks of buildings and roads, with a clear band where the river runs through and bridges where roads cross it.
Ships fly here in four height bands, from 25 km down to 300 m over the ground.
