Your flagship, raiders, the Hive and civilians: factions
Published
In short: every ship belongs to a faction. You are a Flagship with a number, new each game. The Raiders and the Hive, a machine swarm, are your enemies; Civilians are neutral, and you can’t order an attack on them. Numbers are placeholders.

At a glance
| Faction | Shown as | Colour | You can attack it |
|---|---|---|---|
| You | Flagship and a number, 1000 to 9999 | blue | — |
| Raiders | Raiders | red | yes |
| A machine swarm | Hive | purple | yes |
| Civilians | Civilians | green | no |
Who fights whom
- You are hostile to the Raiders and the Hive.
- Raiders are hostile to Civilians: they raid towns. More: raids and sieges.
- Everyone else is neutral. For now these relations are fixed.
How you tell them apart
- Paint. Every ship wears its faction’s paint: Raiders red, the Hive a purple glow, Civilians green. Your own ships are unpainted.
- Map symbols. Ships: yours a circle, hostile a diamond, neutral a square. Small craft show as air tracks: yours a dome, hostile a tent, neutral an open box.
Civilian traffic
At the start a civilian carrier patrols round Bangkok at Low height, its three Mk1 fighter squadrons following it as escorts. Its escorts go after any hostile that comes within 6 km of it, raiders included.
- Patrol is a new order: a ship flies a loop of waypoints until it gets another order. You can’t give it to your own ships yet.
More: raids and sieges, Bangkok, commanding the fleet.
